My Handmade Soaps:
In order to make soap it is necessary to mix Lye (sodium hydroxide) with fats and oils. Please rest assured that there is NO LYE left in the finished product. Because oil and water do not mix, Lye is needed to change their chemical composition to create soap.

My soap products are made from scratch using the cold-process soap method. To make cold process soap, you have to heat the oils until they’re approximately 90-100 degrees while matching it to the temperature of the Lye. Then very slowly, add the lye-water mixture into the oils until it thickens to a trace. At trace you add your choice of essential oils, superfatting oils or herbs. The mixture is poured into a wooden mold, covered and undisturbed for 24 hours so it can be hard enough to cut, thereafter. Soap needs anywhere from four to six weeks to cure before it is ready to use. Each bar is tested for its level of PH before it is sent out.

Commercial soap is usually produced from animal and other fats and synthetic compounds. Commercial soap is also stripped of glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant; it attracts moisture and it is a natural by-product of handcrafted soap. Since glycerin is in all natural handmade soap, it retains its natural moisturizing properties.

My soaps are mild enough for the most sensitive skin. Sufferers of skin disorders such as very dry skin, eczema and psoriasis can get relief from using these natural products. Some of the oils and butters I use include Olive, Coconut, Palm, Corn, Canola Castor, Calendula, Evening Primrose, Jojoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed, Sesame, Macadamia nut, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E oils, Shea, Illipe, Cocoa, and Mango butters. These oils and butters allow me to create a beautiful luxurious bar that nourishes and compliments your skin.

The Little Soap Shop produces bath salts, body scrubs and bath teas. My salts and scrubs are made only with premium Dead Sea salt from the Dead Sea. My teas are only made with dried herbs and spices and can be used in the bath, in the drawer, closet or pillow for an everlasting herbal aroma. Please click on the photos for a more detailed description of our products.

My Dead Sea Salts:
My bath salts are only made with premium Dead Sea salt from the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea has a salt content of about 30% as oppose to regular sea salt content of about 3-5%. Dead Sea salts are very rich in minerals that include, Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium, Sodium and Bromides. Regular use of Dead Sea salt help detoxify your body and regenerate new skin cells. Use two tablespoons of Dead Sea salt in a warm, NOT hot bath (about 2-3 degrees more than your regular body temperature) and relax for about 20-30 minutes. Do this once to twice a month. You can also put a tablespoon in a tub to soak your achy feet and hands. Please DO NOT bathe in sea salt if you have open wounds, as the salt will sting. Only bath salts without the oils should be used in Jacuzzis or Whirlpools, as they tend to clog them.
My Blends carry all the benefits of Dead Sea salt with the additional benefits of pure essential oils and dried herbs.

Minerals of the DEAD SEA:
Magnesium - is known for helping combat the skin aging process and promote healing, fights fluid retention and calms the nervous system.

Potassium – is known for regulating skin moisture and energizing the body.

Calcium – strengthens bones and nails

Sodium - balances lymphatic fluid, which is important for the functions of the immune system.

Bromides – is a mineral that serves as a natural relaxant for stiff muscles.

(All of my salts contain some kind of carrier plant-oil to add moisture).

We carry a variety of fresh dried herbs that are used in all of our products. Herbs can be used to serve many different purposes. In ancient times, herbs were a source of medicine; each had their own quality and was used accordingly. Today, herbal medicine is becoming more popular. My bath teas are thought out well so that the combinations of herbs can assist in soothing certain symptoms, such as itchiness, dry skin, hemorrhoid pain, stress or just for a spa experience. Some of my teas are great to place in draws and closets.
